New Open World

Pokemon Scarlet offers expansive new open-world environments, providing a feeling of freedom the likes of which Pokémon fans have not yet experienced. Gone are the days of navigating restrictive environments and scheduled activities, as there are no boundaries between urban areas and open wilderness in this game. Players are free to progress through the game however they want, with three routes available to choose from, and objectives in each route can be done in any order.

The graphics of Pokémon Scarlet are nothing short of beautiful. The game offers stunning visuals, with vibrant and detailed environments that draw the player in and immerse them in the world of Pokémon. Everything from the character models to the dynamic lighting effects has been meticulously crafted and truly demonstrates the power of the Nintendo Switch.

Let's Go

The “Let’s Go” mechanic was built into the game to allow players to send out a Pokémon to roam the overworld and automatically battle wild Pokémon. Players can also now engage in co-op play with up to three other players. This adds an extra layer of a challenge but also allows for the opportunity to join forces with friends and create a formidable Pokémon team.

Starter Pokémon

Like in previous Pokémon games, Pokemon Scarlet introduces three new starter Pokémon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. It also adds two new legendary Pokémon: Koraidon and Miraidon. Both of these legendary Pokémon can assist in travel, as they can be used to traverse the environment. In addition, the game offers a variety of overworld aids such as exclusive missions, special events, and hide-and-seek puzzles.

Personally, I was quite impressed by the depth and complexity of Pokemon Scarlet. The game offers something for both casual and hardcore gamers alike, with its expansive open-world environments, stunning graphics, and myriad features. The “Let’s Go” mechanic, co-op play, and exclusive missions provide something different to the series and make it feel fresh and exciting.
